Switzerland were frustrated by a resolute Bosnian side through out the first half of the game. Bosnia were roared on by their passionate supporters at the SoFi stadium. Bosnia captain Edin Dzeko returned to the starting lineup and each touch of his drew loud cheers from the stands.
Switzerland’s first goal didn’t come until the 74th minute after the substitute, Johan Manzambi’s first-time volley goes past Bosnia goalkeeper Nikola Vasilj, just two minutes and 46 seconds after he came off the bench.
Things got worse for Bosnia after Tarik Muharemovic’s received a straight red card in the 80th minutes for bringing down Breel Embolo when clean through on goal, and just four minutes later, Ruben Vargas doubled Switzerland’s advantage with a precise curling finish into the bottom corner.
The substitute Vargas turned provider in the 90th minute when he set up Manzambi to score his second of the night from close range, before Granit Xhaka converted an injury-time penalty after Djibril Sow was tripped by Amar Memic.
Ermin Mahmic scored a late consolation for Bosnia with a spectacular volley following a corner.
