Transfer news: Chelsea FC are already making plans for Alonso’s reign at the club

Chelsea has already secured the signing of Morgan Rogers, Marco Palestra, Harrison Bettoni and are also finalizing a deal for Maxence Lacroix. Chelsea have already started making plans for the club’s new project led by their new coach, Xabi Alonso.

Chelsea had signed the England World Cup forward Morgan Rogers in a British transfer record move from Aston Villa to Premier League rivals Chelsea. No fee was officially disclosed, but media reports on Tuesday said it is worth 117 million pounds ($156.5m), which surpasses England teammate Elliot Anderson’s 116 million pounds ($155m) switch from Nottingham Forest to Manchester City earlier this month.

The London club have also completed the signing of Atalanta right-back Marco Palestra for a fee of about £47m, including add-ons. The 21-year-old has signed a six-year deal, with the option of a further year, and becomes the first arrival since Xabi Alonso’s appointment as manager. Palestra had been the subject of an agreement to rejoin childhood club Inter Milan, but Chelsea moved quickly to surpass their £43m offer and, according to sources in Italy, offered a more substantial wage package

The blues also secured the 18-year-old midfielder Harrison Bettoni’s signature from Wigan Athletic. Bettoni joins on a four year contract, with the League One club due training compensation. It is expected that Bettoni, whose contract at Wigan expired in June, will spend a season in Chelsea’s academy teams and on the fringes of Xabi Alonso’s first-team squad. The Stockport-born forward made 27 appearances for Wigan at senior level in a breakthrough 2025-26 campaign, scoring four goals, including his side’s goal of the season for his debut goal against AFC Wimbledon. He also featured against Arsenal in an FA Cup fourth-round tie. Bettoni has been at Wigan since under-13s level having joined from Bury in 2019

Chelsea are also in the process of finalising a deal in the region of £52million ($69.2m) to sign Crystal Palace centre-back Maxence Lacroix. The France international is scheduled to undergo his medical today before signing a six-year deal that will see him contracted to Chelsea until 2032.
