World Cup tickets for Iran fans revoked, says US and FIFA

US federation says it has revoked world cup tickets for Iran fans. It was reported on Tuesday that FIFA will not be able to provide thousands of tickets that are supposed to be allocated and distributed to the Iran fans just days before their first game.

Iran who is expected to start their world cup campaign on June 15 in Inglewood, Los Angeles against New Zealand is set to go on without their fans. The claim has started an unsettled conditions among Iran, FIFA and tournament co-host USA, which resumed its military attack against Iran recently.

Iran arrived in Mexico earlier and are still facing problems with processing USA visas and that led them to move the training base from Tucson, Arizona, to Tijuana, Mexico, which is on the border with California.

Iran defender Hajsafi in a recent interview commented on the decision “Thank God, the team’s condition is very good.”

Unfortunately, several key members of our coaching staff, whose roles are very important within the team, were not granted visas,” Hajsafi added. The members include the team manager, the executive director and the media director, all of whom play very important roles.

From here, I would like to ask FIFA to address this issue so that, God willing, the situation can be resolved in the coming days” Hajsabi said about some of the Iranian entourage that are still without US visa, some of which include Iranian Football Federation’s secretary-general, Hedayat Mombeini, and its vice president, Mehdi Mohammad Nabi.

Fans expecting to come to the U.S. to support the team are likely to face issues obtaining visas and making payments while financial sanctions are in force.
